Pistol Performance Course- June 2, 2012

The Pistol Performance course is designed for individuals who want to master the fundamentals with an undercurrent of fluidity, efficient body movement and a clear mind.  This course is not competition specific, but rather, focuses on executing technique by only recruiting necessary muscles to accomplish the end desired tasks.

The Pistol Performance course does not cover competition specific topics like turning and drawing, instead this course focuses on the fundamentals of stance, grip, sight alignment, sight picture, breathing, trigger control, follow through and recovery.  Mastering the fundamentals is critical to maximizing performance.  High performance shooting is not about little tricks, it is about mastering the the basics which requires the correct technique and mindset of a relaxed sense of urgency for executing the technique.

This course does not only cover the physical and mental aspects to perform, but also focuses on how to set-up a personal training regimen that is encompassing, rewarding and sustainable.

  • Isolating Trigger Control
  • Draw/Gun Handling- Get a Grip
  • Shooting on the Move
  • Training Limits of Natural Point of Aim (grip and stance)

  • Identifying Pistol Transition Deceleration Zones
  • Sequencing of Movement to cut dwell time
  • Off Balance Shooting
